In 1952, Delta Zeta Sorority celebrated its Golden (50th) Anniversary at the National Convention held in New Orleans, Louisiana. Among the many milestones commemorated at that Convention, one of the most enduring would be the initiation of the three remaining Founders of Delta Zeta: Julia Bishop Coleman, Mary Collins Galbraith and Alfa Lloyd Hayes. As founding members of the Sorority, they had written the Ritual and initiated many other women, but they had never been initiated themselves. At this same Convention, the Founders would also become the charter members of Order of the Golden Rose, which recognized them for 50 years of membership in Delta Zeta.
