The Lincrusta wallcovering is a deeply-embossed wallpaper invented in 1860s' England, made of a composite of linseed oil and wood flour that is rolled between steel rollers to create the raised pattern. With time, the surface becomes sturdier, promoting durability in heavily-trafficked areas. Lincrusta was a common addition to interiors in Victorian homes.
