In 1984, in a field of male candidates, Yvonne Kauger was appointed to Justice of the Supreme Court of Oklahoma. She described herself as a pragmatic feminist who learned to move in a legal world dominated by men. Her ability to slash through difficult legal issues branded her as "Zorro." She received her law degree at Oklahoma City University, where she was first in her law school class. Yvonne Kauger was inducted in the Oklahoma Women's Hall of Fame in 2001.
