Beyond Delta Zeta, Gail gave of herself to many worthy causes. In 1942, she was recognized for her work for the Motion Picture Relief Fund (today known as the Motion Picture & Television Fund), founded by Hollywood stars to provide assistance to those in the motion picture industry who were in need (this includes anyone in the industry, from camera operators to grips to stars). She was named the 1970 Honorary National Chairman of the Christmas Seals campaign, which then-President Richard M. Nixon helped her kick off. Active in charitable and civic projects in Los Angeles, she received the City of Los Angeles’ Certificate of Service in 1972 in recognition of her many volunteer activities.
