Dr. Mary Hill Fulstone Receives First Woman of the Year Award in 1950
Reno Alumnae Chapter established a medical science scholarship fund in the name of Dr. Mary Hill Fulstone, Delta Zeta’s first Woman of the Year, at the University of Nevada in Reno. Acceptance as a woman physician was gradually won as Dr. Mary made her way from home to hom, attending to the medical needs of the residents, including Native Americans who had no access to medical care, in remote mountain valleys of Nevada. She delivered approximately 2,000 babies, driving over mountainous roads in inclement weather to care for her patients.
