Dr. Mildred Freburg Berry, Iota - Iowa, 1951 Woman of the Year
Dr. Berry was an international authority on speech and language in children. In 1971, the American Association of University Women at its Centennial Convention in Boston made awards in four fields. The Centennial Award “for achievement in the area of Education” was made to Mildred Freburg Berry, who had directed the resident Summer Speech Center at Rockford College in Illinois. Today, the Mildred Berry Center provides the most advanced and comprehensive diagnosis treatment for childhood emotional disorders. A Fulbright lecturer in speech pathology, she was a persuasive speaker on the lecture platform.
