When Melody McDonald Wilkinson, Angelo State - Lambda Omicron, was a little girl, she knew what she was going to do when she grew up. Her grandmother said that because she was so sassy, she should be a lawyer. She graduated from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1988. She has had a distinguished law career, including being one of 18 attorneys from Texas invited to join the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation, where membership is limited to one-third of one percent of all attorneys practicing law. One of her achievements was her election as president of the Texas Young Lawyers Association, which has over 20,000 members and focuses on public service. She has served on the VoTexas project to educate more than 20,000 students in 125 schools about the importance and privilege of voting. She also volunteers to help underprivileged families obtain deeds to their properties. Her advice to anyone entering the law profession is straightforward. “Truly there is nothing more important than your credibility and your reputation. You should never compromise your integrity.” Melody was named the 2003 Woman of the Year.
