Florence Henderson’s, California/Los Angeles - Alpha Chi, talents were evident at an early age when she could sing 50 songs by the time she was two. She entered the prestigious Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City when she was 17 years old. Florence attracted the interest of Josh Logan and Rogers and Hammerstein. She had the lead in the National Company of “Oklahoma” and later the role of Maria in “The Sound of Music.” The role of Nellie Forbush was hers in the New York State Theater production of “South Pacific.” Florence was in every aspect of show business including stage, screen, television and night clubs. She headed the cast of the comedy series “The Brady Bunch” and became a “mom” to the national audience. Florence Henderson represented in her personal and professional life the ideals significant to Delta Zeta, and was dedicated to the cause of speech and hearing.
