Jane Carter Handly, Lenoir Rhyne (NC) - Zeta Xi, is a highly successful professional speaker, consultant and the author of acclaimed self-help books including “Getting Unstuck” and “Why Women Worry.” She has appeared as a guest on more than 200 radio and television programs, including “Regis and Kathi Lee,” “The Home Show” and Dr. Robert Schuller’s “Hour of Power.” Upon graduation from Lenoir-Rhyne, Jane Carter accepted her first teaching job in 1968 and was the first female Caucasian teacher in an all African-American school in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Other teachers noticed that the children in her class were responding and succeeding in the classroom. The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction approached her and asked her to use her creativity and new ideas to do speaking engagements for them. She produced a movie broadcast on National Public Television entitled, "For the Love of Learning." She was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the National Speakers Association (NSA) and was inducted into the NSA Speakers Hall of Fame in 1992. Drawing onher impressive background in the business field, she has inspired thousands with her dynamic seminars on customer service, client relations, leadership and employee empowerment. She was the 2007 Woman of the Year.
