Ethel Mae Bishop Gullette

Known as an outstanding pianist, duo pianist and accompanist, Ethel Mae Bishop Gullette, Minnesota - Gamma, was well-received for her concerts in the East, South and Midwest. She received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Minnesota in 1931. She also studied at the Julliard School of Music where she was a vocal accompanist. Ethel Mae was an active member of Mu Phi Epsilon, international professional music sorority, and Who’s Who of American Women. She was presented in concert by the National Arts Song Guild and was given an Award of Merit from the National Federation of Music Clubs. Ethel Mae formed a partnership with Dorothy Forest, a prominent musician from England. Together they played numerous concerts for many years. Ethel Mae came to Delta Zeta through a sorority merger. A member of Beta Phi Alpha, upon that group’s merger into Delta Zeta, she was initiated into the Gamma Chapter. Busy as she was with family and career, she always had time for countless community volunteer efforts. She was full of enthusiasm in all she did. She was the 1982 Woman of the Year.
