Carolyn Wills joined Eastern Airlines in 1965 as the first representative of women’s activities. She later became the first woman to hold an executive management position. As regional manager of public relations, her responsibilities included the areas of radio, television and media along with community and public relations. In her position, she met many well-known personalities. Those opportunities increased when she was active in community service. Carolyn traveled extensively and held membership on many boards associated with her work interest. Prior to joining Eastern, she spent a year traveling around the world and visited over 40 countries from the Far East to the Middle East, across Eastern and Western Europe, through South America and home. The purpose of the trip was to broaden her education by seeing, learning and doing as much as possible. The knowledge of people and their customs gained from her experiences was a decided asset in her chosen field of public relations. A significant accomplishment of Carolyn Wills was her leadership role in the effort to save the historic Fox Theater in Atlanta, a success that brought gratitude and appreciation from Atlanta citizens. She was the 1976 Woman of the Year.
