As a collegian, Jeanne Hirsch, William Jewell (MO) - Zeta Rho, was her chapter’s recruitment chairman, planning an event that called for painting 130 pink and green turtles made out of rocks. The chapter filled quota! She graduated summa cum laude and studied at Oxford University in England. While there, she did an internship at the BBC in London. Jeanne is a highly respected journalist in Florida. She is the co-anchor of “First News, News at Six” and a reporter for NBC affiliate WTLV 12. As a reporter, Jeanne aggressively pursues stories related to health and fitness. She has also reported on some very tough issues, spending ten days in Vietnam and producing a documentary on the subject of tunnels used to booby trap American troops during the Vietnam War. She has received numerous awards for her journalism including six Emmys from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and was the first person in Jacksonville, Florida to win a Peabody, an annual international award for excellence in radio and television. She was the 1994 Woman of the Year.
