Joan Dondrea Lowry, Baldwin Wallace - Gamma Alpha, has been in broadcasting for over 30 years. Starting as a teacher but unable to find a teaching job, she connected with contacts she made as a teenage model and landed a job as a spokeswoman for major companies Goodyear and General Electric. These jobs led to the Ohio School of Broadcasting and to radio and television commercials. She has been the community affairs manager for Continental Television in Ohio and host of “North Country Connections,” a weekly program during which she interviews everyone from celebrities to next door neighbors. She has received numerous awards and recognition as a woman in communications. Joan has served Delta Zeta as a Trustee and President of the Delta Zeta Foundation. She has been committed to the Sorority’s philanthropy of speech and hearing and has worked tirelessly at improving the quality of life for the deaf and educating the public. She has been a board member of the Better Hearing Institute. Joan was the 1995 Woman of the Year.
